SUMMARY REPORT

The School District of Superior (District) retained Arrowhead Consulting and Testing, Inc. to provide project oversight and testing services during the abatement of asbestos-containing materials at the Cooper Elementary School. Project oversight and testing services were provided to verify that the work practices of the asbestos abatement contractor complied with Wisconsin federal, state and local regulations. MAVO was retained by the District to provide the asbestos abatement services. Removal of asbestos-containing materials occurred between July 24, 2017 and August 9, 2017.

Air monitoring was conducted during asbestos removal activities per the Environmental Protection Agency Asbestos Emergency Response Act (AHERA) requirements. Area air samples for airborne asbestos fibers were collected and analyzed onsite by phase contrast microscopy using National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health method 7400. Final clearance testing was conducted inside negative pressure enclosures systems per AHERA criteria. Results were below the EPA work area clearance level of 0.01 fibers per cubic centimeter of air.

Upon completion of the regulated asbestos-containing material abatement, air sampling indicated the school was safe for occupancy.
